Superintelligent Agents: The FutureHouse Revolution in Scientific Discovery

Backed by Eric Schmidt, FutureHouse has unveiled a new suite of AI research agents built to accelerate scientific discovery by tackling the massive information bottleneck researchers face when navigating millions of papers and databases.

Here’s what’s new:

FutureHouse’s platform introduces four specialized AI agents—Crow, Falcon, Owl, and Phoenix—accessible via web or API.

  • Crow manages broad research tasks.

  • Falcon performs in-depth literature reviews.

  • Owl identifies and links relevant past research.

  • Phoenix is tailored for complex chemistry workflows.

According to FutureHouse, these agents outperform both PhD-level researchers and leading search models in literature search and synthesis, reaching what the company describes as “superhuman” performance.

They also feature transparent reasoning, giving users visibility into how conclusions are reached, and can tap into domain-specific scientific databases.

Why this matters: While many labs are racing toward similar goals, FutureHouse is among the first to offer a fully available, productized solution. As AI continues to reshape science, the ability to quickly synthesize and reason over vast troves of research data will become a standard part of the scientific workflow.
